“I’d been stuck at the same vertical for nearly a year… Within a few months I added about 4 inches. But what I love most is how training feels. I’ve never felt more alive during workouts.”

Nate Waddoups

Athletic Fusion is an 8-week mentorship on designing training that integrates speed, strength, skill, and play-based methods into one coherent framework.

You’ll Learn:

How to make familiar speed, strength, and skill work more dynamic and adaptive

How to use the science of attention to maximize training flow and task relevance

How to build movement challenges that improve power, coordination, and problem-solving

How to integrate exploration, rhythm, and gamification principles alongside traditional methods

Is True Athleticism Really Built by the System?

Every year, more athletes are run through “elite” clubs, formal strength and conditioning, “optimizing” protocols, and data-based assessments.

But are we really building better athletes?

Honing fluid sprint, jump, and throwing mechanics?

Creating adaptable speed, strength, and movement?

Maximizing useful outputs?

So many superstars of the past came up through environments that contained far more than formal training, such as:

  • Pele
  • Maradona
  • Michael Jordan
  • Roger Federer
  • Wayne Gretzky
  • And countless others

Not that modern sports performance and traditional coaching doesn’t do important things. It absolutely does. At the same time:

Beneath the data, protocols, and formal drills lies a power that lives much deeper: the athlete's innate capacity to explore, adapt, problem-solve, and organize movement.

Beyond Methods

We have fallen into a cycle of asking:

"Should athletes Olympic lift?"

“What are the best drill(s) for my sport or chosen skill?"

"What's the ideal conditioning test?”

“Is “functional training” for sissies?

...and instead began asking better questions, such as:

What do good athletes do better from a general perspective (sport-specific skill aside)?

What environmental factors helped grow their high-end abilities?

How do attention, perception, and brain state impact speed and skill improvement?

What makes training maximally stimulating beyond drills, sets, and reps?

This is a gateway to where training becomes more than exercise preferences and related camps.

It becomes an ecosystem of high performance.

“Re-Wilding” the Modern Athlete

Re-wilding doesn't mean abandoning structure. It means restoring what over-structured training has forgotten: awareness, exploration, problem-solving, play, and the power of the human spirit.

For a long time as a coach, I exclusively sought out the “best protocols” and “top drills."

Although it was critical to learn how to write out good training weeks, along with a proper balance of programming, I realized there was more to the story.

I found modulating how training was experienced for athletes could have a substantial impact on their results, along with enjoyment of the session.

By tuning the dials of athlete attention, exploration, gamification, awareness, and the flow of intensity, we can create robust training options that sit alongside, and enhance, traditional training methods.

Introducing Athletic Fusion

Most courses give you more exercises. Athletic Fusion gives you methods to manipulate the conditions of training for superior adaptation.

Athletic Fusion is for those who want to:

  • Build engaging sprint, jump, throw, strength, and movement sessions

  • Break performance plateaus while driving engagement and aliveness

  • Progress athletic movement abilities over time

  • Build adaptable power and coordination alongside measurable output

  • Improve their overall coaching process without just collecting more protocols

While Athletic Fusion is built around principles rather than a collection of drills, you'll also gain an extensive library of dynamic movement challenges, innate power building methods, skill-amplifiers, and training progressions, adapted to familiar coaching tools including:

  • Strength training
  • Sprinting
  • Throwing
  • Jumping
  • Agility and COD
  • Mobility, Movement and Overall Body Control

Testimonials

Nate Waddoups:

"Working with Joel has been a game changer for me. I came to him at age 42 after spending nearly a year stuck at the same vertical, despite training incredibly hard and already having done other vertical jump programs for several years. Within a few months, I was setting PRs again. I’ve added about 4 inches to my vertical and gone from a max touch of 10'3" to 10'7".

What I love most, though, is how Joel makes training feel. I’ve never felt more alive during workouts. I’m jumping hurdles, chasing tennis balls, sprinting, skipping, bounding, swinging a mace, dunking a basketball, boxing, crawling like a bear, and throwing heavy balls like a Viking. During some of his plyometric work, I feel like an absolute monster. At my age, there’s something incredible about having an outlet where you can move explosively, express yourself, and just feel powerful and alive."

John Chen:

“Before training with Joel, every coach I worked with told me I just needed to get stronger. I did get stronger, but after a while my progress kind of slowed down.

Joel’s training was completely different. I move so much easier now. Running feels lighter, I don’t get tired as fast, and changing direction, jumping, and even shooting all feel smoother and more natural. Instead of just trying to get stronger, I learned how to actually feel the movement and use my body better.”

FAQ

  • Will this actually help performance, or is it mostly movement philosophy?

Absolutely. Athletic Fusion is designed to make training more stimulating while helping athletes become faster, more explosive, and more adaptable. At the same time, it’s done in a way that also redefines how we see speed training. This is a course whose umbrella sits above speed, jump, agility, and ballistic methods. Athletic Fusion concepts will be described in a way that you can create and enhance your own training, with a deep library of examples and practical methods.

  • Will this still be useful in my actual coaching environment?

There are many base-athletic competencies that form a foundation of sport skill acquisition. Regardless of your role, this cohort will give you ideas and concepts that help athletes to feel more connected, alive, and move more effectively in their chosen sport or skill development. It will also help you to make better sense of what is effective versus what is fluff in the movement training world, as it applies to athletes.
